According to the plan of the Ministry of Rural and Agriculture Development, til 2010, the Pangasius farming area is expected to reach 13,000 hectares with the volume of 2 million tons, value at $2 billion.
Though having to face a lot of difficulties from new regulations of EU and other big markets, in the first months of 2009, Vietnamese pangasius still holds its position in global market.
This not only brings more strength for Vietnamese pangasius on the global market but also avoids to suffer miscarriage of justice and suits the trend of developing firmly.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, although in the first 6 months of the year, the Vietnamese aquaculture export has faced a lot of economic problems, 1.7 billion USD are gained. This number is 11% lower than last year.
