Russia delays application of new regulation of importing seafood for some countries
Topic: Fisheries Information Date: 2009/2/23
According to new regulation of RosSelKhozNadzor, Russia’s veterinary agency, from January 1, 2009, Russia just imports seafood products which originate from foreign factories and fishing ships inspected by this agency in advance.
However, RosSelKhozNadzor will delay this regulation to July 1, 2009 for such countries as USA, China, India, Morocco, Indonesia, Mauritania, Madagascar and Singapore.
This delay might be because such countries cannot hold necessary inspections. Meanwhile, RosSelKhozNadzor announces that it still accepts these countries’ commitments ensuring food safety imported to Russia.
